This project is a bottom-up project and it lives from the collaboration of the people.
And it is a test: A test to show that we can bring thousands of people together and there is a big need for an urban festival like that.
The Monsters are on a mission. Let's give them a chance !!!

Citymonsters
– The first Haifa public street art - cheer up project –
– unique in its kind in Israel and worldwide –
We are not alone - Monsters are among us!
Our tough daily life and the current economical crisis have left us human beings with many troubles and worries. The city monsters living among us invisibly every day, got fed up to see our sour faces and decided to act: to become visible and to remind us on the whole range of human emotions: they want to tickle us, to scare us, to surprise us, to love us … and eventually to make us smile.
Through a series of street art installations and events from every scale – from giant monster cinema throughout the city, monster design workshops at schools utilizing old toys, driving monster buses or huge up scaled monsters on buildings – this project will offer a different, more positive and optimistic view on the city and everyday life by inviting everybody to take part, by either creating a monster, to place them in the city, to assign them a mission, to provide them a home.
The citymonsters project is concepted an annual series of installations and events which will promote creativity, cultural entrepreneurship and positive thinking in Haifa, Israel.
Let’s give the monsters a chance !

THE MONSTER SEASON TO OPEN
From September 11th, dozens of urban monsters will emerge in Haifa, citywide, to touch the lives of its residents and bring a broad smile to their faces.
Fed up with our sour faces, the city monsters, invisibly sharing our city, have decided to come out of their holes and do something to enhance our mood, and to evoke in us, a range of upbeat, happy emotions, long forgotten in these difficult times.
A series of street art installations and events will take place from September 11th -November 30th. These will range from monster- huge-scale monsters depicted on buildings, to theme films projected onto an eight-story-tall outdoor screen; to design your own monster workshops in schools, using old toys; to monster-image buses.
The project will invite people, companies and institutions to take an active part in it, by creating monsters; placing them in the city; assigning them a mission or providing them a home.
The city monster project, in close is designed as an annual series of installations and events that stimulate creativity, cultural entrepreneurship and positive thinking among Haifa residents and beyond. The project was conceived and created by Merav Eitan and Gaston Zahr of O*GE Interactive Gallery--engaged in promoting interactivity, design and social responsibility, through innovative, community-based ideas and solutions.
The City monster project is done in close collaboration with the municipality of Haifa and Ethos – Company for Art, Culture and Sport, Haifa
